DESCRIPTION

The Hayes Digital Heating Tool is a Celsius 110V plastic pipe welder for socket fusion. It is suitable for joining a variety of thermoplastic pipes and fittings (from 20mm to 63mm) for different applications in the industry. This machine can weld pipe made of Polyethylene (PE, HDPE, MDPE), Polypropylene (PPR), Polybutene (PB). The iron has a heat resistant aluminum plate with a digital screen control to adjust the temperature for the most accurate heating temperature. The internal controller can adjust to the environment temperature and it also has an ergonomic handle for ease of use. The heating adapters (male and female) have been coated with 3 layers of non-stick Teflon to reduce polymer adhesion. The chamfering tool works also as a depth gage. It is made of aluminum and it has a stainless steel blade. The cold ring or vice-grip pliers have a solid constructed locking configuration with a 1022 carbon steel ring. This tool kit is designed and manufactured according to the American international standard ASTM F2620.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROCESS

Definition according to the DVS technical code DVS 2207-1: At heated tool socket welding, pipe and pipeline components are welded in overlapped condition. Pipe end and fitting are heated up to welding temperature by a socket or spigot-shaped heated tool and subsequently joined together. Heated tools and fittings are dimensionally adapted so that on joining a joining pressure will be built-up. Heated tool socket welding can be performed manually up to 50 mm pipe diameter. At diameters as from 63 mm, a welding device is required because of the higher joining force.

PROCEDURE / APPLICATION

For the purpose of heating, fitting and pipe are pushed swiftly and axially onto the devices fitted on the heated tool and held until the stop at machine welding or until the mark at manual welding. It
has to be absolutely avoided that the pipe is pushed onto the end of the heating socket. Afterwards the heating-up time starts according to the time values.
After the heating time has elapsed, the fitting and pipe should be withdrawn sharply from the heated tool and pushed together immediately without any twisting until the stop or mark.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Welding procedure

 Skill and knowledge are required to obtain a good quality joint.

• Ensure you select the proper temperature according to the pipe manufacturer’s recommendation.
• It is important to know the technical information before you use your heating tool.

Non-stick coating

The heating adapters have a coated surface that has been treated to reduce polymer adhesion. If the polymer adheres to the heating plate, lightly wipe with a clean cotton cloth to remove. Do not use a wire brush or an abrasive.

Welding parameters

Pipe and fitting manufacturers have established qualified fusion procedures which should be followed precisely. You should obtain a copy of the pipe manufacturer’s procedures or appropriate joining standard for the pipe being fused.

Heating iron temperature

To meet pipe manufacture’s temperature specifications, the surface temperature of the heating adapters should be measured with a surface pyrometer prior to initial use and at reasonable time intervals thereafter.

Ensure you test the temperature on the surface of the heating adapters and not on the heating plate itself. The heater’s built-in thermometer indicates internal temperature and should only be use for reference.

CAUTION

Heating iron

• The heater is to be used with AC power only. Check heater to confirm correct power requirements and only use a power source with the correct voltage and current capacity.
• Connect heating tool to power and permit sufficient preheating to stabilize the temperature before the welding process.
• When welding, if temperature adjustment is needed, please turn off the heating tool first and turn it on again to adjust the new temperature. Adjustment of the temperature when it is already set will damage the temperature control components.
• It is recommended to use an insulated heater bag to store the heating tool when it is hot.

WARRANTY CERTIFICATE

LIMITED WARRANTY

Hayes warrants all products distributed. All products have 12 months warranty against manufacturer’s defects from the date of purchase directly from Hayes or Hayes authorized dealers. Furthermore, this warranty only covers factory defects.

RETURN OF GOODS

Buyer must receive written authorization directly from Hayes or Hayes authorized dealer before any returns. The goods must be in the same condition as received. The buyer has 15 days to request a return of goods after the date of the purchase. Buyer is responsible for return freight for any reason other than manufacturer’s defects.

IMPROVEMENT

Hayes reserves the right to make any changes in or improvements on its products without incurring any liability or obligation to update or change previously sold machines and/or the accessories.
